electrical problems, all electrical systems die while coasting and under power!

Help, tonight I was driving my fd and then just cruzing around. When I was coasting at about 25mph the head lights flickered and then went out, at the same time the engine just turned off, I braked to a stop and then I got out to check if everything is all right, I then start the car back up and everything seemed to be fine, the oil pressure was good, the temp was good, idle was fine so then I start to drive back home, everything seem to be find for about 2 miles but then it happen again, the head lights flickered and then the engine shut off again. All the while I was not on the boost at all, just cruzing and taking it easy. After this I got out to check the belts for the alternator cuz I thought perhaps the alternator belt snapped and that is why the electrical is cutting off. Everything is fine so then I start it back up and then I continue on my way, about 100feet later, the lights start to flicker so I gas it a little more and the flicker stops, about 200 ft later the lights flicker again and then the car makes a loud back fire and the engine again stalls. I stop on the side of the road and again look everything over, no hoses popped off and everything looked fine, so then I start it back up cuz my house if only about 200 ft away, the engine starts back up quickly again and then I get home fine, I let the car idle for about 3 mins and let the fans stay on for a while till the engine is relatively cool, I grab my 500 watt light and go over everything and it seems like its ok. No oil is dripping, no radiator fluids is drip. The car seems just fine. Once again I check the temp and its ok, I try to check all the lights/relays/fuses on the car and nothing is burnt out. Im kinda scared to take it out again for fear of killing the car. Has anyone ever experienced this, anyone got any ideas about what I should do or what is going on? I don’t think any of the apex seals are blown cuz the car idles fine and drives good, its just that the electrical just went out 3 times for some mysterious reason but came back right away. also i noticed loud backfires right before the engine died. Help!!!

P.S. I keep my eye on the air fuel ratio gauge and its always in the rich! Another thing is that I keep a voltage meter in my car and when the car stalled, I jumped out and checked the voltage and it was always above 12 volts, 12.3 to be a little more exact.

Start the car up and immediately disconnect the battery. If the engine dies, then your alternator is shot. Time for that polished alternator upgrade

if it doesn die, check ALL of your electrical connectors on the alternator and the battery. Just because they are connected also doesn't mean they are making contact. Take em off and clean them and make sure they have a GOOD contact.

hey i think i found out what is shorting, its the ingition switch, the black with white stripe wire which is suppose to supply 12 volts when the key is turnedi think its the acc wire I tried starting the car again today and it started fine, it idles good and for 10-20 minuets before I shut it off, the car ran fine. The oil pressure was good, the temp was good also. ill check the alternator tomorrow i guess.
