Electrical problem

Once again me RX has started to have problems. I just had the clutch replaced in the car by some dirt bag place close to the house because I just could not drive the car anywhere to have it done right.
So I get the car back and the window won't roll up. I yank the switchs and find the drivers side switch to be melted. I cut the wires and hot wired the passenger switch to roll both windows up until I get a replacement switch. Anyway I go to drive the car around last night and notice the parking lights and the dash lights are not comming on!! God Damn!!!!
I didn't even check to see if I had blown a fuse yet as it was dark and I was to say the least. I wanted to get this thread started so when I get homeI can have some sugestions.
Is there anything the guys at the tranny shop could have done to cause this. After I check the fuses, what should I start looking at if the lights still don't come on?
Thanks guys.
