My glovebox light was damaged in a past fire, so I want to be sure no power is constantly running through the wiring draining my battery.


So, I've cut the wires to the switch, but do I connect them together or cap them individually to stop any 12v flow? Seems like they should Not be connected, but I may be missing something.

Honestly I would just fix the light properly but worst case heat shrink each wire individually and then tape them up well so they don't contact anything. There will be no flow or draw if the wires aren't connected to anything. DO NOT connect them together.

 

Remember, you only use electricity if there is a load. A bulb is a load - it puts resistance on the circuit and converts electricity to heat and light.

If you have 2 cut wires, there is no load and no power used. Do NOT connect them together - that's a short to ground, and a good way to either pop a fuse or damage more wiring.
