Electric or mechanical water temp gauge?
I'm buying some Autometer gauges for my FD, and I'm wondering if I should be buying an electric or mechanical gauge?

maybe electrical
I was looking at the Omorimeter gauges and the electrical water temp has a user selectable warning light. This is the only electrical function I would find usefull.
I don't care about instant replay or peak hold on the other guages. The stock water temp gauge only took like 30 sec to go from normal to hot! ...could be too late if you don't look all the time!

I have the electrical and it was easy as pie to install. I've heard that the mechanical gauge is a big pain. Some people say that the electric isn't totally accurate, but all I wanted was to see if I was around 180 or around 230. Go for the electric

Go electric for more accurate readings. I have the mechanical Autometer & have found that the whole length of the cable to the gauge is one long thermocouple. It's picking up temps along it's whole length which means its showing underhood temps combined with what the temp sensor is sending.
