Eibach Springs with R1 Struts?????

Don't flame me for this thread being in here.
Technically it is " 3rd GEN specific "

Anyone here got Lowering springs on their stock FD3S
Struts??? And if you do, How are they???
Do they ride OK? Any problems???

I have read some where that lowering springs
with Stock struts, causes the Struts to Bust..
IS this TRUE??? Has this happened to anyone??

Giving the fact you go out your way to avoid
bumps and do not AutoX and beat up your
FD3S on the streets???

As some of you know.. I got Eibach springs ready
to install, and 1 dead front left strut. "due to some
carpet muncher tring to install my springs"
In the works of buying used R1 struts all the way around. and mounting the springs with them.
I don't have 800 for new struts PLUS install
at the time...

THaNKS
Any response will be appreciated

hey what's up man, did you manage to figure out the springs?

In any case, if you have a blown strut, it is time to replace. Someone in the forssale forum is selling R1 struts and springs for 125. R1 Struts are great if they are in good conditin and stiffer than most aftermarkets.

If you don't race or whatever, then stock struts can hold up for a while, but will eventually wear out.

stock struts will wear out quicker with aftermarket lowering springs.
but buying 8-9 year old r1 struts will be on their last legs imo.
i would try to look for used aftermarket struts like koni or tockicos

I have the Eibach springs with stock R1 struts and they are still working fine but the ride is pretty shitty and I have rolled the front fender a few times on hard corners. I am in the process of getting some aftermarket struts because I don't like the ride or handling of this package.

This should probably be in the suspension section, try posting in there you might get a better response.

60k miles later with the Eibachs...
and no strut problems. Maybe the people that told you they had problems should be more careful with potholes
