EGR: 93 vs. 94 ECU question
EGR: 93 vs. 94 ECU question
I have a 94 that keeps lighting the CEL during highway cruising. Mechanic says it's throwing a EGR code. Funny thing is that it has a new EGR.
I don't care if the EGR works, but I don't want the CEL to come on, esp since it needs state inspection soon. I don't want to monkey-wire in a relay to spoof the ECU either.
Will swapping in a 1993 (non-EGR) ECU solve this problem? Will there be any other issues or problems using a 93 ECU in a 94 car?
Thanks!
Doc
ps- I don't want to put a PFC in this car. It's staying stock. My other FD has one (and more).

Hey Doc, the 94 has a different EGR valve then the 93.

Thanks for the info, but neither tip will prevent the CEL (check engine light) from coming on.
I am thinking that a 93 ECU will fix this and Rob Robinette's site confirms it. So the question is, is there any drawback to using a 93 non-Cali ECU in a 94 FD?
