Efini y-pipe gasket

The efini Y-pipe I bought from a member came with a metal gasket however I am not certain if the assembly has already been bolted together and therefore if the gasket is new or used. I am wondering if this gasket can be reused or if a new metal gasket is needed.

Also, if a new gasket is needed where it can be purchased...

Any thoughts or feedback would be appreciated!

If the gasket looks good, re-use it. If it has folds, or isnt flat, get a new one. I suspect that Malloy Mazda can get you a new one in the unlikely event that a new one is needed

I haven't tried it. But is there any reason why you couldn't just make one? Does it have to be metal?

I tried some high-ish durometer silicone flat gasket material, viton flat gasket material and for a short term holdover used regular gasket material while waiting for another stock metal one.

I was originally looking for a re-usable gasket solution but found to my surprise nothing could take the heat of the stock turbos.

Maybe some exhaust gasket material, but its hard to cut.

I went back to stock metal.

Thanks for the info, my gasket is unbent I just was not sure about whether it could be reused or not. It sounds like reuse is possible so I will give it a try.

Another tip is to use Hylomar and coat the gasket with a thin layer. As in put some on your fingers and just rub the gasket with it.

Yup, that is what I do too when re-using stock metal gaskets- thin coat of Hylomar using "acid brushes".

Don't touch it it kills you.

Ditto cept i use gloves and no brushes

It used to be carried at Autozone and Napa now its getting harder to find as most people didn't know about it. water pump gaskets just peal right off instead of scraping silicon RTV off and any excess thats left you hit with brake cleaner and it wipes right off.
