efini emblems

i saw some FD's over the weekend with some of the efini badges and i must say i liked the look. I saw that the rx7store has them for cheap. does anyone know how hard it is to remove the stock badges....do they leave any type of glue or residue behind that is a difficult to take off?

thanks.

The residue comes off with time. What doesn't come off is the outline of the old emblem. On my MB, the paint under the emblem is clearly much darker. For the most part, it will get covered up by the new emblem. The only part that will still show are the lower right & left sides. U can't do anything about it, but i don't think it's that big of a deal to begin with....
*if you do get them, be sure to put the front emblem on the front and back emblem on the back*

i just got those from the 7store. i just pulled my old ones off, and the adhesive scrubbed right off. the "mazda" under rx7 also had 3 prongs in the back that went into 3 holes in the rear. they came right out though. paint was same color. the holes in the rear made it easy to line up the new ones. just stuck em on, still there after a few weeks and a couple washes.

Use some GOO GONE to get rid of the residue. Can be found at CVS or Home Depot. Works great.

That would be the smart thing to do...and get an efini key also.

Stock emblems have posts with push-on clips which you need to get behind the panel with needle-nose plyers to remove. My front one had the clips broken off so it was just stuck on. The back one would not come off for anything (even after getting under the sticky stuff with dental floss). Had to pull off the rear tail lights, center light, and remove the torx bolts for the top of the rear bumper to get at the back of the emblem. I highly recommend putting them back on with the clips and not the tape. Seems people will steal them if easy to get off. Plus it looks better if they are mounted directly to the bumpers and 1/16" off using the tape.

Got the center caps too. Forget from where...

Any kind of bumper sticker removal spray from a auto store will work. I think I used Goof Off!.

The RX7 Store version is the actual Mazda part...When you get them, it comes in a Mazda bag with a FD100... part number.

Yeah when I removed my stock emblems, I had some brown outline of the stock Mazda logo on it.

I just used some exterior boat cleaner and it came off pretty easily. It should go away with time.

The efini emblems look really good. You should get them.

Did you use a blowdryer to heat up the sticky stuff? It helps a bit. The pins on the back of the stock emblems actually broke on mine though.

Weird...I rubbed my residue off with my finger...

Definitley put the emblems on, although I left the TX-7/Effini one off and just used the front and back symbols.

Hardly anyone knows what my car is (Scoot Hood/99 bumper too throws them off) even more so than before. I like the extra attention of people walking around it trying to figure it out ;*)

even if you do attach them with the clips/prongs they could still be stolen. if they were to be stolen i would think i would like it to be easy for the thieves so they dont scratch up the paint trying to take it. An emblem isnt so expensive to replace but an ugly scratch could be costly to fix. kind of a trade off

Well if you want to use a huge screwdriver to snap off the prongs well then I can't stop you. But I'll get a new paint job and new emblems. Looks better mounted directly to the bumper as Mazda intended. Plus I know they won't accidentally fall off... I can't worry about every jack *** who wants to steal something.
