Effects of PC/WG pills reversed...
Hello-
I know that in general, more air bled off the PCA or WGA means a higher primary or secondary boost, respectively (the extreme case being if the vacuum line is left open... major spike!). Also, I know that the WG pill should be larger than the PC pill.
This means that if they were reversed, one would expect a little MORE primary boost, a little poorer transition (due to less primary exhaust bled off to spool secondary), and LESS secondary boost.
My question is this: by how much?
I have a _bone_ stock engine. Currently, the boost pattern is approximately 11-7.5-9. Does it sound like someone in the past may have swapped the pills, or would swapping the pills have a much larger effect than this and it's something else that needs a little tweaking?
Also, for clarification, there is no problem with clogged exhaust components causing the high rpm boost limitation... soon after I got the car I had a problem where the vacuum line to the WGS developed a slight split in it (i.e. bled off a little more WGS pressure than it should have) and the secondary boost went up to 11.5psi and tripped the fuel cut. Simple enough to diagnose, though...
Thanks!
Take care,
Shad

it sounds like a possibility that your pills are switched... but i wouldn't take my word for it or stake my engine on it... free bump because i'm intereted in learning about this too.

With no pills, you will see a maximum of 7psi of boost, since that is the weight of the wastegate actuator. If you leave the hoses OFF, then yes, you'll boost till infinity (or engine explodes, whichever happens first ). Swap 'em and see what happens! I haven't had pills in so long, I don't remember if they're different sizes.
