ECU Re-wire

I have seen numerous threads where we have re-wired different components of our cars such as the fuel pump, ignitor, etc., to ensure a healthy 12+ volts is fed to these parts. I have yet to see a thread where someone has re-wired the ECU to ensure that it is properly fed as well. Anyone ever do this?

And yes, I'm aware that the ECU recieves 12v from six different sources, three of which come from the ignition, and understand that some are just there for the ECU to confirm the car has voltage at differnet locations. I'm just curious.

Thanks for your input.

Steve

First you'd have to prove that a voltage drop to the ECU is present and causes a problem. Before I rewired my fuel pump I drove around with a multimeter and saw what the voltages were.

Also, a fuel pump is an electric motor under load, they draw a LOT of juice. The only thing on an ECU that will draw a lot of current is the transistors for opening/closing the fuel injectors, they do put off some heat. But, that still pales to the current consumed by a motor.

But, I could be wrong. Get the meter out and test things for yourself.
