Thumbs up ecu question again, still researching ><

so im still poor so im looking at used ecus...now ive been searching a lot and have found bits here and there but not everything. theres a few topics that mention a little on the forum here and there but nothing too specific.

my ecu (93 base) says N3A1
im looking at a used one thats is N3A7 i know that it is from a japanese car

whats the difference?

there both 8 bit 93-95, would it work in my car? ive asked before and searched, it looked like a few people (yet i still cant 100% confirm it) have used them and it works?

the seller (in japan) also says overseas customers have used these no problem, but i`d rather hear it from somewhere else too. (and i dont know if that would include a US customer or not)

again only asking because i dont have money for a pfc or m2 right now! i try to save but sheet its the slow time of year at work, and i would bet i make a lot less than any of you! and i got other stuff going on the car(s) atm. haha, i can afford a used one for 2-3 hundred thats about it.

but thanks for any help and im still searching.

If you can't afford $400 for an ecu, then keep the car at 10 psi and stay with the stock ecu....

As far as JDM ecus, they switched to 16-bit ecus in either 96 or 98 -- that would not be compatible with our FDs. If you have to pass emissions, the JDM ecus does not support the EGR valve.

why do u want a new ECU? have u got a boost controller already? until you get a large intercooler, a ECU isnt really required, of course it would be great to have.

i dont see why u would remove the stock US ecu to put in a stock JP ecu unless it was chipped or something?

yeah i know about the egr thing... and i know the 16bit wont work.

thats what i wanted to know will another 8 bit work?

i do keep it at 10, and i have not been doing any mods untill i can get an ecu. i dont plan on doing much either im just looking at mildly tuned stuff.

(and is there anyhting for 400, i didnt get that part...haha)

on a side note i would have the money this month for an m2 or something, but i got a deal on a 99 front i couldnt pass on so bleh...add the accessories and there goes that money.
