ecu question

if i was to buy the pettit racing base performance package (ss exhaust, pulleys, and intake) and then bought a downpipe and installed a radiator, would i need an upgraded ecu? if so, which one would be the best for these mods?

After 3 or more mods that effect your air to fuel mixture, an upgraded ecu is necessary to prevent engine damage due to lean mixture. Pettit sells a reprogrammed ecu, so does M2.

i know that the intake, exhaust, and downpipe affect the air to fuel mixture. do the pulleys or radiator? and would i need an ecu if i was just to get those three air to fuel mixture changing mods?

Basically, there is no way to tell what your specific Air/Fuel ratio will be unless you have a wideband O2 and a A/F gauge.

Each car is different so what works for one person may not work for another. If you keep the boost levels around stock then you should be fine without getting an ECU.

Do do a search, there are TONS of threads on this topic...

The pulleys and radiator don't affect your A/F ratio. The radiator doesn't have ANYTHING to do with A/F. The only things that will affect A/F are things in the intake and exhaust pathways (CAI, DP, MP, CB, hi-flow cat, efini y pipe, greddy elbow, IC, etc.). 3 or more and you better get that ECU.
