ecu pegged me at lean

i bought an RE ameyima(sp) ecu
now my fuel monitor is pegged on the green which ive always thought was lean
im pretty sure
\so i have octane boost in it and ive got a boost controller in the mail
ive been told that its probably a very agressive ecu since japan runs on 98 octane fuel
can i get this ecu tuned at a dyno?
can i send it back to RE?
i guess im getting a new engine..........

You're only getting a new engine if you detonated. Is your engine running worse than normal? Is the vacuum really horrible?

How much do you want for it and is it tuned for your specific mods? I run a J spec car on 98 octane.

T04? That should read dangeroulsy lean for you as I'm sure the guy was running 1,600 secondaries (on 100 octane if it's a used item from Japan) with injector cycles set for that. I'm no where near that level of mods.

wow, i wish they had 98 octane or higher around my neighborhood.

They have 110 Octane but its like $5.50/gallon and they won't sell it to just anyone.

Will you still say the same if it costs US$1.5 per litre and that you've no bloody option but to pay at this price for even the cheapest type of petrol around?

What do you mean "pegged on green." Which AFR gauge do you have? Green means rich on my Autometer. Under what conditions are you reading it? I assume wide open throttle, under boost, but if not, its not telling you anything about your maps anyway.

I kind of think youre running rich. Thats what green usually means anyhow. The best way to tell is when you coast down a hill with your foot off the gas does it go toward red or green. Should go lean going down a hill.

That depends. If you're running the J&S dual display then Green is Lean and Redder is Better

Yeah, depending on the gauge, red is lean, green is rich. What kind of a/f monitor is it?

Actually green is good. Optimal fuel /air mix. I have talked to some of their factory reps. I am told that they are too slow to trust for tuning. You wil blow B4 you know. Dont drive the thing if you are not sure. You need to get that thing on a dyno with a wideband.

since your not on a wideband (true wideband will read out numbers, not a little flashy gauge), your a/f ratio is pretty much bunk. get on a true wideband asap, go for a run on the street if you can too, dyno is too deceptive because of all the variables you cant really take in to consideration while actually moving

I'm not familiar with the Dawes fuel monitor thing, but unless you don't have an air pump, the car will idle pretty lean...i.e. your green lights are more than likely telling you you're rich.

off the dawesdevices.com web site, it's a 4 light design.

.78 to .90 is considered lean = red, idling falls under this
.90 to .94 is yellow
.94 to .98 is green
.98v and up is blue

At WOT, I'd try to get the yellow to light up, but since you don't have a tunable ecu, yellow, green or blue is safe.

Is this the A/F monitor you have?
