ECU Issues

Hey guys, I picked up an FD not too long ago, its my second one and Ive owned a 2nd gen in the past so im fairly familiar with them, but this problem I am having has me looking for a solution.

The car was originally an automatic, the previous owner swapped it to 5 speed.

When doing a WOT pull, at 7500rpm the car seems to act like it hits fuel cut. Now I know the auto FD's had a 7k redline as oppose to the MT's 8k, which Im guessing is because the auto trannys couldn't take the same pnishment.

Which brings me to my question, Does the auto ecu have a fuel cut that it hits at 7.5k which woud be causing what I am experiencing?

I was thinking of swapping to a MT ecu, theoretically this would fix it wouldnt it?

One other thing, the car DID come from cali. so its a 94 Cali spec AT ECU. would it cause any issues if i installed a fed spec MT ECU?

What boost are you seeing? The stock ecu will cut fuel if certain boost levels are exceeded.

not running a boost gauge atm, so I am unsure. The car only has a Racing Beat Dual Tip Catback and an HKS Downpipe, nothing that should effect the boost.

Any modifications to the air flow (intake and/or exhaust) effects boost. In cooler weather, you can also experience boost spikes which could trigger fuel cut. I'm not sure what you are experiencing is fuel cut, but get a boost gauge installed and see what PSI you are seeing.

Ive done a few more tests and I am pretty sure it has to be a fuel/sprk cut, it does it at same exact rpm (7500) every time.

so i'm pretty sure the ECU is the culprit, I just was wondering if anyone could confirm or deny the AT ecu's have a 7500 cutoff.

and also, does anyone know if I can swap in a federal spec MT ecu into the car without problems? (the car came from Cali, so it currently has a cali spec AT ecu in it)
