ECU codes ? car wont start with RP ECU
i've bought a RP ECU from a forum member and when installed the car wont start. it will turn over. I put the stock ecu in and started first time. I remember another post where another guy was having the same problem.
i looked on both ecu's and the RP ECU has N3A1 on it and my stock ECU has N3C1 on it. now the car it came out of was a 93 and mine is a 94. now i've heard about a 94 ecu in a 93 chassie throwing a check engine light b/c of the EGR valve and extra emissions. but i have yet to see or hear a 93 ecu in a 94 chassie. I think why my car wont start is b/c of the extra emissions not being controled/accounted for during start up. please can anyone help with this problem. i've sent a pm to the seller to help with the problem or money back(hopefully he is a good preson)
thanks for any help

I have a 94 running a Pettit RP ECU 93 and have no problems with it. In fact since the 93 ECU doesn't look for an EGR input this can't be your problem. I would suspect a DOA ECU. With the 93 ECU you can even remove the electronicly monitored EGR and install a block off plate. Jack

i talked to roarty performance and the problem is that two ecu codes don't match. the N3A1 and the N3C1. i guess both years had two different ecu codes and they have to match in order to make the car run. if i was to walk up to a car with an stock ecu that has N3A1 marked on it if i put the RP ecu in it should run fine.
