Ebay taillight cover on stock body car?

I'm wondering if anybody has any pics of the taillight cover on a stock body car? I have a stock body silver fd with an R1 lip and I can't find pictures of an FD with that cover that doesnt have a body kit.

My taillights were cracked in the center garnish so I replaced it but the middle piece is like BRAND NEW looking and the side lamps look faded now. If I buy new corners then they probably still wont match....SO I'm thinking the taillights cover would be my best bet and I just want to see what others have done. I dont know if its too aggressive for a stock car.

Thanks

Yeah, I don't like how those things look. Have you tried plastic polish? I know there are people on here that convert the stockers to the 99 look with the circular lights with paint (on the inside), and then polish it for a new look. Hear it looks phenomenal. I have no idea what they use but there's polish for acrylic aquarium tanks that may work.

Thanks for the reply, I read that but some people were saying it just took out some of the scratches but didnt make it darker. I did notice some greasy fingerprints (from working on the car) on the taillights that made them darker and I didnt know if some petroleum based stuff would "stain" it darker like back to black or a tire shine even if its temporary.

And yeah, typically I dont like how those covers look either but I was hoping after seeing one on a nice stock car it would change my mind.

Why not just get the "jdm" conversion done?

Well if I do that will the side match the center garnish? Where is the thread that links the process, or who does it? I remember somebody on here does it but I couldnt find the thread.

seven lust does the conversions though you can do them yourself with a heat gun.

This is the how-to

You can polish the lenses to clean them up. I can't remember the recommended compound. Someone should chime in here soon.

doing the conversion wont solve your problem. I have the same problem and its not with the lenses which is what is modified for the 99 spec look. The outside plastic is what fades but its like the paint underneath the outer plastic so polishing the outside does little for the color. I have yet to find a complete solution....my tails look purple almost.....not black

I can fix all these problems in this thread. The lights most certainly can be polished back to black. I know because I have done many that have been faded to purple or gray. You just have to know what you are doing and want to spend the time doing it. All of the lights that I have returned have gone back looking as new as can be to the owner. Just rubing plastic polish on the outer lens will not get the job done.
