EBay 'stock' all-metal radiator
Normally I stay well away from eBay car parts, but I needed a stock-sized radiator to pass the visual part of a CA emissions test (my v-mount would not cut it here). Was not keen on getting a used stock radiator with random deposits so I decided to risk an eBay radiator. They can be picked up for $100 or so and I figured that, even tough the quality would not be high, they should be able to get me to the emissions station and back.
I probably would not have ordered at all if I had taken the time to read some of the horror stories here (see here, for example) - but I was in a hurry.
So I ordered one (from a seller called speedyracerparts). Total was $115 shipped.
Radiator arrived today. Packing was highly suspect, with random non-custom styrofoam placed haphazardly in the box.
However, the radiator itself looked a lot better than I expected. I anticipated stock size but this is clearly a Koyo ripoff rather than a stock-sized radiator (I have a Koyo modified to a v-mount install so could do a side-to-side comparison). Weld quality is not great but no worse than some custom stuff I have paid (dearly) for in the US.
Fans fit perfectly - as can be seen in pictures. Did a test install and found no problems - apart from the fact that I do not have any stock brackets to mount the top of the radiator.
Now, a lot of caveats apply here. eBay sellers come and go and there is no guarantee that another radiator will fit as well. A pressure test would not be a bad idea either (I am not going to bother since I will only be using it for a short while). In general, even a used Koyo is probably a better option. But, if you are feeling cheap...

The ones I have installed from EBAY are way oversized and are a bitch to fit with stock intake or IC. Even made a Greddy FMIC install difficult as one of hte ones I got off of ebay was even thicker than a Koyo.

The godspeed one fit right in, had to modify the brackets so it sat about an inch lower but once we did that everything else went right in.
ok great, Im looking for a radiator and I couldnt find the koyo in the group buy or when I did the thread was really old. I also read about someone buying a "koyo" radiator of ebay and it being a fake.
I have not had good experience with Ebay radiators , when its something so important like the car's cooling considering how fragile the rotary is to overheating , I think its a part worth going the extra mile and getting the best you can afford .
I will agree. Though in this case it really did seem to pay off, the gamble is just too high for my blood.
EBAY IC? sure why not. Who cares if it fails due to being low quality. Replace and move on. A radiator though? **** that... That can lead to an engine replacement.
