Ebay knockoff TB elbows

Any particular reason I shouldn't buy one? It's a fair bit cheaper than an actual Greddy elbow and it looks decent enough in the pictures. Don't care that it isn't as pretty as the Greddy, since I'll likely be painting it black anyway.

fitment is okay, I had to grind away at the flange in a few places in order to clear some bolts (not shown in this pic, but when you try to put it on, you'll see what I mean.

Also had to sand smooth the flange mounting surface so the o-ring could seal properly, otherwise its decent value? I ultimately ended up buying a used authentic greddy elbow with a fast acting AIT for $115.

The inside is absolutely disgusting. Honestly for the price difference, I wish I just bought the greddy one in the first place.

Interesting. Thanks for the pictures. That is a pretty ugly casting on the inside, though I suppose I could clean it up a bit.

I guess I'll look around and see if I can find a good deal on a Greddy and get the eBay one if I can't.

I actually tried to clean it up with a die grinder. I wasn't very successful

Looks like the same quality as the Rotary Works elbow.

I had the same issues MIBagentQ experienced with my own eBay elbow. Had to grind away part of the flange to fit properly. The inside is a very ugly casting although I seriously doubt that hinder performance/airflow. For the price I paid (around $70 shipping IIRC) I should have just got an authentic GReddy elbow.

/my 0.2 cents

The best reason you shouldn't buy the ebay knock-off is because it makes the real thing more expensive. Greddy does the R&D and makes a quality product, but then it gets knocked off and some other company takes all the profit. That's exactly why Greddy already went bankrupt.

I bought one of the knock offs just to see how they looked in person. The quality was terrible. I had to take it to the grinding wheel just to get it to clear the dampener on the TB. The mating flange was so poor that I was afraid it would not seal properly. It went into the aluminum scrap bucket.

There is an old saying......
"You get what you pay for"

I have learned thru the years that you spend more trying to save money and cut corners than if you would have just spent the money right the first time around...
