ebay fmic fit ?

I have searched but not quite found the right answer to my question so here goes.

Will a ebay fmic with the sizes 27" x 7" x 3" fit in the stanfdard bumper without 2 much butchering and would it offer much improvement over the standard oem intercooler ?

If it's not a kit and you can not fabricate yourself then it will actually end up costing you more then a premade kit like Greddy or Blitz. You don't state which intercooler, so assuming you mean XS it was stated in another thread that the inlet and outlet diameter is only 2.5" which will bottleneck flow.

The inlet and outlet are 3inch so i guess that is not a problem.

I know its a budget intercooler and prolly a lot will tell me save and perchase a much better unit but i am on a buget and just a small gain on the standard intercooler i think would be ok for the kind of power i have.

this is the one ----> http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=015

Oh and i can fabricate just about anything so mounting and the likes would be a diy job its just the fit and gain over the standard that bothers me.

Inlet and outlet are listed as 2.25" on eBay and at 7" tall it sounds like a FMIC for a Honda to me. Keep looking for a "budget" intercooler with a larger inlet and outlet.

I'm not familiar with the metric system... I would say 12" is about as tall as you can go. My HKS is 24" x 12" x 2.75" I believe. might be 2.5" or 3" thick but the inlet and outlet are towards the motor. Fills the stock bumper perfectly with minimal trimming of the bumper

Edit: Pretty much anything is better than the stock IC. Plastic end tanks are no good and the IC is tiny!!

STAY AWAY FROM EBAY BRANDS-none of the research has been done and in the long run you will spend much more money to either custom fab your car or in repairing the crapy item. dont go cheap on your rx7

I dont have a choice, its either that or stick with the stock intercooler and im sure everyone will agree anything is better than the stock intercooler, specially when iv just this minit quickly mesured the stock intercooler core size (in the dark) and its about 11X5 inch ... now thats small.

Dont ya agree that a bigge size core with 3in inlet and outlet would be better ?

True and i dont exspect to exceed 10-8-10 in the near future allthought i think it may be a little closer to 12-10-12 on the rare occasion.

U still think the stock intercooler is fine placed against a similar sized alluminum ARC Smic ?, or should i go with the ARC intercooler ?.

the ARC is an exceptional unit. SMIC work extremely well when ducted properly. this seems like your best bet for the options you have mentioned. why dont you look in the fs section? i/c's for sale quite often. if you want a new unit the greddy smic is a great replacement for stock

ebay intercoolers are fine. i know PLENTY of people running 350hp sr20's that use them with no problems. If its welded solid you shouldn't have any problems, except maybe for the cheap couplers.

like everyone says go with a premade one but i will tell you some of them are only made for performance. some of them block the radiator from getting any air.. and stuff like that they arent really designed to fit the car right. my friend had to cut a couple fins off of his to get air to the radiator.. i think he had a small front mount i have pics.. notice how it has a couple fins missing..

I kinda like the look of that, it looks mean haha.

But like i say i have perchased one like this https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthread.php?t=590375 and for my near stock boost and some nice duckting im going to make, i have been given the impresion that it will be ok for the job and is of top quality design and manufacture so all in all for £110 it fits my budget and my boost and my standards.

Perfect for the Job and couldnt do better for £110 i guess.
