Easiest way to install FD tranny and engine?

Hi all, new to FD's, but had an FC for almost a decade.

Bought my FD completely disassembled, and now putting it back together.

I'm probably overthinking this whole PPF thing, but what's the easiest way of putting the tranny and engine back into the car?

Rear diff and PPF are still on the car.

My plan was to bolt the manifolds and single turbo on the block, drop the motor in, then bolt the clutch, tranny, and driveshaft from underneath.

Some peeps are telling me the FD's pull type clutch makes it super hard to install the tranny, and that dropping the engine and tranny as one unit is easiest...?

Thanks in advance.

I'm also getting advice like tranny first, engine last.

What does everybody usually do?

I always remove and drop the engine and transmission together. Just don't forget to remove the shifter...

I found it real easy to do the engine and trans together but without the turbo and manifold mounted because it doesn't have much clearance with the strut tower and I didnt want to smash anything up with the tight fit, tons of room if you do it that way.

i put the drive shaft on the diff and put in the motor/trans bolted together. sliding it into the drive shaft and PPF at the same time.

however; snapping in the clutch fork to the throw out bearing is the easy part.

search youtube for pull type clutch and you will see its probably the easiest to snap in .

*Remove the PPF and cross-bracing.
*fill the transmission with gear oil AFTER installation. Seems obvious but just making sure. Rear seal is cheap BTW.
*Your choice on engine/transmission or transmission first. If it's your first time, probably together will be easier. But don't let the pull clutch scare you. It's different, but not difficult.
*install starter and clutch slave
*We always installed my friend's single turbo with it ON the engine. Was never a problem. But the "V' band dp simplified things some.
*A load-leveler for the hoist is really helpful. So is having a couple of friends...but they often require beer and pizza.
*install driveshaft
*install PPF

I did mine engine and trans togeather with the turbo. Take the 4 rear front subframe bolts loose and let the subframe hang. Then just slide the whole assembly in there. Lift the rear of the trans with a jack. Hoist the engine up and put the rear subframe bolts back in and the go ahead and seat the engine down. It's only removing 4 large boots as apprised to everyone else very hard multiple bolts in hard *** areas of the car.

There is absolutely no reason to drop the subframe to install the engine and transmission.

Listen to sgtblue

The way i did it (first timer) was tranny engine manifold and DP together. It helps a lot if you have an engine balancer for your cherry picker. Also having those polyurethane puck type engine mounts made it easier for me. Don't forget to insert the AC bolts into the compressor before the engine is all the way in, you wont have any room once its all mated together
