e85 gas?

So here in MKE, they make us put 10% ethanol in our gas.. It does make it easier to pass emissions, but it wreaks havoc on my ecu tuning when I get gas without the ethanol... Now in Minneapolis and Chicago, they have this new cheaper gas called e85, it is 85% ethanol and 15% gas... I wonder if this is the ticket to getting FD's to pass the smog check... or if you will destroy your engine with the hotter combustion temps.... Any thoughts...

Not really sure about the higher combustion temps; I was under the assumption that ethanol (like methanol and other high-end petroleum distillates) actually burns cooler than regular gas. I do know that you will have to richen up your fuel mixtures quite a bit compared to gasoline. Ethanol's specific gravity is much lower than pump gas, so it requires more per specified volume.
