dynomax race magnum in midpipe. . .
well, i finally did it. i had my race magnum muffler welded into my mild steel midpipe. whats so funny about it is that the muffler simply slid into place. . . right over the midpipe. haha. i waited for so long to do this cause i was trying to find time to get to a muffler shop to have pipes expanded, but needed to take it out, and measured, and all sorts of other crap and i just didnt feel like doing mostly. hahaha.
aaaaaaaaaaanyways, i just got done doing it. when i first started it up i didnt really notice anything. i thought, "man, i just spent a better portion of the day getting this all done. . . for nothing." well, the muffler took out the droning, the cabin noise level is down, when i went to the jack in the box drive through (they usually have me turn the car off) everything was fine. the car is effectively quieter. hahaha, not bad for a 35.00 part!!!
i was in a rush so i didnt get pics in the process, so ill get some up as soon as i can get BACK under my car. it looks different, but it fits great and works well in my opinion.
one thing i noticed while messing with all this, was that the downpipe was WAY loose. not good. i noticed that there were no lock washers on the bolts so. . . thats probably got something to do with it. . . i also think it has something to do with the fact that i dont have that exhaust bracket that goes to the transmission holding it all still on there. i have some parts that were given to me to do it with, so thatll be the next thing to tackle. . . along with water injection. haha.
all in all, i think it was a good investment. my hks carbon/ti hyper exhaust in conjunction with the straight midpipe was completely unbearable (sp?). with this muffler inplace. . . its actually pretty nice. you can actually hear the exhaust coming out of the BACK of the car now!!! hahaha.
one thing to point out, though. . . the midpipe i used is the type with the ONE major bend in it. not the one with TWO sharp bends that is normally used with the borla xr-1 or something mufflers. i dont know if that one will allow this muffler or not. i got the shorter of the two race magnum mufflers. . . just to be safe, but i feel that i could have gotten away with the longer one. . . i think its 18 inches or so. not sure.
anyways, ill have pics up soon. . . gotta change my oil sometime soon. . . so, yeah. . . theyll be up.
