the dumbest high idle problem yet!

Ok, for the longest time I thought my idle was high cause it was at 1k rpm... at least that's what the damn tach said. So when I went to get the idle checked out, they measured 750... the fool who I bought the car from installed NR Auto white face gauges and apparently fucked up the calibration of the tach while he was at it. So now that I I know my idle is actually 750 and not 1k like the tach says... how do I recalibrate it? Also, is the idle supposed to be at 750? I was reading some old posts and some people were saying more like 850 was actually correct.
