Dumb Question
I have read a few posts and I see that people have the ability to check error codes and resolve the related issues. What do I need and where do I need to look to check for error codes? My engine light comes on from time to time, but I can't tell any difference. Lately, I hear my car sucking air and I don't have a lot of pull at higher RPMs. I'm not smart enough to tell if it is a turbo problem or an engine compression problem. I have like 75k miles on a 94.

Open up your diagnostic box by the battery. I took a paper clip and stuck one end in the ground and the other in pin 10. Turn your ignition switch to accessories (don't turn your engine over). The check engine light will beep (long beep are 10's, short beeps are 1's) count them up and look up the code.
