Exclamation Dumb oil changing question...

Ok, I know this probably sounds dumb, but I've never worked on a car before in my life. I can do the normal "topping off fluids" things, but that's about the extent of my monkey-wrenching.. I'm tired of all these shops tearing up my car so I'm going to start learning about how to do some things to my car.

The one question I have is about oil changes, is it necessary to have all 4 wheels off the ground even to allow the oil to drain completely or can the just the front end be lifted and still have it drain enough?

(ok, someone shoot me now)

It is a simple procedures, jack your car up on one side and losen the oil drain plugs and the oil should drain out normal. I did it all the time and it works.

Thumbs up

Ok, thanks. I just wanted to make sure that tilting the car would still allow the oil to drain out properly.

Thanks again.

Well, if you have the car at a 45 degree angle, that MAY pose a problem :p

Not if you have the drain plug facing towards the ground
