I got a quick ?. The previous owner of my car told me that the engine light comes on ever once a while but its like a stupid light and theres nothing wrong. I am going to get it checked out just to make sure. Like when it comes on, I turn my car off like right away, start it right back up and it doesnt come on. Does anyone have the same problem??

 

There is a reason the car is flashing the check engine light (ie: a bad sensor, etc). Check the computer for codes:

Mine did the same thing. Pulled the code and got a 16 which ended up being the egr valve. Heard from people here that it's most likely the egr sensor thats messed up rather then the egr valve itself. People said that you can install a relay so that the CEL won't come on. I don't know **** about electronics so I haven't gotten around to it yet.

 

Oh, now THAT's a good idea. The CEL lights up for a reason! Fix the problem, don't cover it up!

BTW, you'd have a fun time at smog testing with a non-functional CEL....

 

I removed my EGR and have the sensor just chillin... no light coming on =P You may want to fix that... need the light to work, it is an emissions requirement =P
