Dual exhaust on an FD ??

Does anyone have pics of this. I know this will be a major issue with some people. I'm only asking because I don't feel like running a 5 in DP to a 4 in exhaust for my T-6 20B swap. I'd rather a 5in DP to a 4in Y reduced immediately to 3 in duals less muss more fuss, but still a high flowing exhaust system. Not to mention it's almost impossible for me to find someone locally to mandrel bend 4 or 5 inch pipe.

If anyone has pics please share the wealth.

cars pretty much designed for single, gas tank makes it impossible to properly locate the second tip. Plus it would look pretty gay.

yea, thats what I was thinking too. I don't have a problem with a single tip. I simply dont have the resources at my disposal to fab up a good 4 inch single. Make no mistake I could do it myself, but i would have to cut and section everything and that to me at least makes an exhaust and engine bay look badly. I suppose I could do something similar to the N1 Duals , but make them start closer to the DP.

^ story posting pics from a VIDEO GAME bro. . . also looks like *** lol. I think the car needs to be single. its a minimalist car. All the fat and unnecessary bullshit has been trimmed from the car to be a true driving machine there's absolutely no need for true duals. RB dual tip is ok though :P

Hmmm that's interesting... You should ask EA how they installed the dual exhaust.

I really don't understand how duals would be any easier compared to a single outlet. Less weight, less bends, Better flow, ......i don't get where having duals is in any way benificial..

I'm not saying it it would be easier. I'm saying that I can't get a proper 4 inch exhaust made where I live. With 3in you can usually find an exhaust shop that can mandrel bend the pipe to fit your application. With 4 and 5in exhaust it's somewhat difficult to locate the pipe, and bending it to suit the car requires special mandrel benders because due to the size the the pipe wants to buckle when you bend it. Now your probably saying well just fab it up yourself. I could fab it up myself, and probably will. I am particular about now my custom fabbed parts look and I don't like when an exhaust system isn't perfectly smooth. It's just a personal thing. Things that aren't level bother me too. I was just asking what people thought about an alternative option. I also agree that the Need for speed exhaust sucks. it looks way too small as well.

duals are cool if you drive a 4 cylinder, and are rocking 2 fart cans. such as a honda civic.

kidding, duals only make sense if you have two exhaust banks, if you get where i'm going

rice...

Never would I defile an RX7 with a non rotary engine swap.

I don't see what the big deal is. Apexi did it with the N1 duals. and I'm talking about the exact same thing just bigger.

I dont understand, are you looking for a DUAL SINGLE tip exhausts? Or a dual tip exhaust like an rb dual??

I was merely criticizing the DUAL single tip setup because its makes no sense IMO.

But if you wanted a dual tip exhaust but bigger, then i guess it makes more sense.

Although i still cant see how you would want anything bigger than the apexi duals. I think that has to be the stupidiest ugliest exhaust ever made for the FD. And the fact you actually want something similar but bigger is mind boggling.

Nah, it's cool I'm not articulating my idea and issues properly. I think an FD with the RB style dual exhaust would look silly.
Dual center exhaust would probably look good with the right rear bumper. but then you still have to deal with the fuel tank. The N1 duals is a similar style to what I'm thinking about. ( I'll draw something and scan it in a few so my idea wont be as vague. ) I may have to have someone else fab up the exhaust for me and get it shipped. With all that said and done, I would still prefer to have a nice single.

The FC and the Rx-8 have dual exhaust outlets, but they were designed for it in terms of fitment. It would certainly look unusual to have dual exhaust on an FD but I think you could make it look ok. Here is what the RB dual exhaust looks like on the FC:

That wouldn't be so bad of a look on an FD, if you can make it fit in terms of the bumper, gas tank, etc. Unusual, yes, but I don't think it would necessarily be tasteless/ugly.

Anyway, I think your best bet is to buy a 3" Y pipe http://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-...w/MF10798.html and then flare the inlet from 3 inch to 4 inch. This isn't the best example but you can see here on the left what a flared pipe looks like:

Any exhaust shop with a good pipe bender can do the flaring.

So it would go 5" downpipe --> 4" pipe, flared to 5" at the end --> 3" Y pipe, flared to 4" at one end --> 3" mufflers. Since presumably you won't have any cats, I wouldn't worry about the weight too much.

About ten years ago while I was in a performance shop there was a personal photo on the wall of an FD with dual exhausts (one on each side). It didn't look bad to be honest.

Your getting what I'm saying. I think the weight wouldn't be that much more and maybe less that a full 4in. depending on placement and muffler selection.

A few years back I think I saw a pic on here where someone in japan had a dual exhaust on his FD. I thought it looked nice at the time. sadly I can't remember the thread name.

Now I remember why I forgot about this. I hate that pink RX7.
I like the duals on the red RX although the rest of it is garbage.

the only duals that look good on an FD is a dual tip single exit exhaust IMHO Racing Beat hands down wins.
