drivers side doesnt stay lit but flickers.

For some reason my drivers side hid head light looks like its trying to light both the low and high beams at the same time but its very dim. Its strange because my passenger side works fine. I've tried all sorts of combinations with the wires and end up with the same results. For some strange reason when I put the high beams on the engine dies too. I'm horrible with electrical systems so im stumped, does anyone have any ideas?

its just a high low kit from hidextra.com. I tried it with both ballasts and it still does the same thing.

Did you try to switch the bulbs side to side? Those kits usually go bad pretty fast.

I tried both of the ballasts/bulbs on the drivers side but neither of them worked. The trouble shooting guide said if only one side flickers you should wire in a resistor, is this really necessary?

No you shouldn't do that, are you using a relay harness or just plugging the ballast into the h4 socket? The relay harness takes power from the battery instead of the cars. The problem might be the original headlight harness not producing enough power to run them.

yes I am using the original harness the light bulb should plug into. Should I just ground it and run the power supply directly from the battery?
