Driver Side mirror vibrates

its not like omg its falling off but when i drive i can notice the movement/vibration/ years ago. I made sure everything was tightened, but still had the issue. i just let it slide because i had bigger stuff to worrie about. Now i have some time and was looking through the FSM i noticed in Section S-30 that you can take the mirror itself off, and was thinking maybe that could be the problem..seems like it was taken off once when the car was repainted before i bought it, so maybe it wasn't put on 100% or something.

before even trying to take it off what kind of adhesive should i use when putting it back on? dont want to be stuck with it off.

I had this issue. My bodyshop fixed it. From what they tell me, it was just dirt or something. They just cleaned it up and retightened everything. I hope your repair goes as smoothly!

To glue the mirror back on I would probably use the stuff used to seal headlights. You heat it up and it becomes soft once it cools off it makes a strong bond.

Nope, it aint dirt issue. This is common on most of our FDs. The main reason is because first, the engine mount on the driver side is known to crack and transfer all vibration to the driver side therefore the mirror is something that tells you to make sure to check your engine mounts.

Second, to fix this which is not hard. Rotate the Mirror 45 degrees from their normal position. You will see 2 screws. Becareful NOT to strip them as they have red locktite in them. I would use a torch and heat it up and then slowly unscrew them. Remove them and put a flat washer underneath both screws and put new BLUE locktite on the threads. That way removal will be easy next time and tighten them will solve your mirror vibration problem. (However, I dont recommend reusing those screws, I've switched it out with a bolt instead and it made it 100% better for my friend's FD)

Give this a try and see how it worked out =).

p.s. NVM, I've re-read your post. Seem as if the Mirror itself is falling apart not the whole assembly.

well i do need new screws for that because of the 1 time i tried taking it off, almost striped it. where did u get the bolts from?? also the mirror isnt really falling off its just when im driving i look in the mirror and its vibrating and just annoys me....

hmm i dont think its the motor mount but ill give that a check later. but i still am thinking about taking off the mirror.. can you reuse the adhesive thats already on it?

Remove the old screws first. And goto any hardware store and find a bolt with the same size. Very common bolt that could be found in any hardware store. I don't recall the size but after the replacement bolts, no more vibrating mirror ^____^

You could use some Gorilla superglue. That stuff rocks!

There are three screws that attach the mirror. The third is under the mirror and attaches the base to the door.
