driver door latch
is there a way to adjust how far the rod is pushed down when you pull the handle? I currently have a issue that the outside handle will not open the door. I took apart the handle the rod is still connected. Looked inside the door it seems to be attached to the latch mechanism. When you pull the rod down manually the door will still open but you have to pull it down further then the handle will allow.
Is there a way to adjust the latch for how far the rod needs to go or is it busted ? I didnt see it in the service manual or in a quick search of the club.

I have dealt with door problems for the past few months (save the past few weeks) after going through 4 door handles, and a entirely new door lock mechanism. A temporary way to fix it is to put zipties on the long oval loop that attaches to the mechanism from the rod. I know it's sort of lame, but it solves the problem.

you can possibly adjust the metal clips on the actual car body? (the bits that the door latch clips into on the body of the car)
If you loosen the bolts that hold it on and movie it up or down slightly or whichever way is needed that may fix your problem.

yea well your problem is that its not unlatching correct? im sure it latches just fine considering its stuck closed.
sounds like there is not enough movement in the mechanism for the locking part to clear the piece on the body of the car when the handle is pulled. move it up or down so in effect it takes slightly more or less movement of the door handle to open the door depending on which way you move it.

would a small piece of epoxy putty/jb weld stick be a bad idea?

I tried that it lasted about 6 months, after putting some divots in the metal portion.
Sounds like the door handle to me and replacing it along with plastic rod clip should resolve the issue if I understand it correctly.
