Drilling and tapping rew centre iron for mount

Hi all,

so this may have been asked or discussed before somewhere, but I couldn’t find it.

i have a HB 929 in which I’m doing a REW conversion. I currently have a 12at front cover on it and was going to do some custom mounts off my rails to suit the front cover, however ive just purchased a 12at cosmo xmember.

now the cosmo 12at ran centre mounts not front mounts like other 12at engines,

my question is, can i drill and tap the REW centre iron to mount the engine from the centre to suit the new xmember,

cheers, Krem

I'm sure it's possible but I would leave work like that to a machine shop. It's got to be dead accurate and drilling into cast iron isn't easy.

The cost/pain in the *** of modifying that iron may make it worth finding another alternative.

The meat is there to do it, as mentioned cast iron is tricky. I've done it a couple times.
