drilling into carbon fiber hoods

for people that have installed hood pins on their carbon fiber hoods, was there a special way to drill the hole so the carbon fiber doesn't crack?

Just use a high speed drill/cutting tool. I found it to be very resistant to cracking. I played around with a junk hood from my old IS300 and you can really be pretty ham-fisted and not get any cracking.

Use some good quality masking tape on the area you plan to drill.

Don't try to drill the full size hole the first time. A nitrided step drill seemed to work well when the hood pins were installed on my FD.
