Hey.. I'm just curious has anyone seen these things on an FD? I know the site says 90-92 but they look badass and I was thinking of buying two for my car since the airbox is hosed.

PLEASE do NOT use that on your car. That is a cheap foam filter intake which would probably break down extrememly easy. I'm assuming you have an FD since this is in the 3rd gen section, so going by that the product details say it works for an FC... I would DEFINATELY not recommend it. Save your money man and check out the for sale section for a REAL intake.

if you are looking for a cone style intake i would recomend the blitz sus intake or the apex intake, both very good intakes in my opinion.

 

Yep, the HKS uses foam filters. I've been using it for years without a problem.

 

Tookwik said "cheap foam" filter right? HKS is a high quality (foam) filter but, high quality none the less, am I right? The Apexi, HKS, and Trust are all great filters (I assume the Blitz is as well) and beyond that there are plenty of guys who fab their own and seem to have great results. None the less "cheap" foam filters are known to deteriate and they are pieces of crap. I would not recommend you use this especially if says it's for the FC

 

Ok.. so I can see that no one has any experience with this filter. But how do you judge one that is high quality from one that will "probably" break apart? And if it is used in FC's why wouldn't it be good enough for a FD?
I guess i'll have to ask on the 2nd gen board.

I saw one of these filters collapse on virtually stock civic. Imagine what it would do on a car with a turbo... just some food for thought

That intake is the pinnacle of rice.

Do everyone a favor and sell your FD before you try to turn up the boost to 15 psi on the stock ecu

 

There is a site i found once that did testing on all the name brand japanese filters(and the K&N) on which flowed the best and filtered the best. K&N and the apexi filter where about tied on filtration and flow. The HKS flowed the best but filtered the worst, Greddy was about the same as the HKS, and the biltz sus filter was somewhere in the middle. I'll see if i can dig up again.

 

So, do you own an FD or FC?? why would you want to ask an FC owners for their opinion??? All of us has pretty good knowledge about FD's.. so, like others said.. cheap intakes could melt by heat, the suction created by turbos could collapse the intakes.. if they are cheap.. DON'T be cheap and buy a good proven intakes.. And these are pretty ugly intakes..

 

I've seen that testing couple of years ago.. For some reason, I'm not a big HKS person.. Heard and seen few negative things about their products.. like intake and cat back.. Of course I have there twin power, but thats only HKS stuff I have..

 

stick with K n N... best one out there, esp. for the price...

The person who originally received the test even makes a comment at the bottom about the results as they didn't do the test themselves:

"It is questionable how accurate the original source of data is, as HKS are proven to sell more induction kits than any one of the others featured in the test, and yet there induction kit rates as the worst kit in the test. This suggests that either HKS rely upon their brand name to sell their 'poorly' manufactured air filters, or that the original Japanese test was nothing more than a PR stunt to promote the lesser known equipment. HKS and Blitz continue to be the best selling induction kits in the UK, and are used by Middlehursts, Hiteq and Abbey Motorsport as their first choice when the induction kit modification is carried out."
