downpipe question
downpipe question
I've been searching around for prices and like amazingly the HKS down seems to be the cheapest.. is there any difference between all the other downpipes like pettit and M2 and stuff. It seems to me that those just seem to be prettier... hmm and to boot which intake would u guys recommend?
M2s claim to fame is the you don't have to remove the turbo manifold studs to install. I'm not sure if all other units require the removale of these studs but I hear they are a real bitch to remove. If that is the case the price is justified. Someone else can fill you in better. I'm really fond of the M2 intake as well and will be purchasing both in a few months.
The problem with the HKS dp is that is is made to fit Japanese right-drive cars. The steering column happens to squeeze through the same space that the downpipe runs through. Due to this space sharing property of the right drive cars, the downpipe must be flattened at the proximal end, right where the exhaust gas flows in from the turbines. The American versions are made for the left hand drive and they are 3" all the way through. Much better flow and they are also made with stainless steel vs the mild steel that the HKS dp is made with. Unless your car is right drive, you will want to go with one of the American ones.
