Down pipe ECU

I will be getting my intercooler in a few days and I wanted to know what kind of down pipe should I get? I have a custom intake and have a straight pipe from the mid cat back. From what I have searched I need to do the down pipe next. I have seen different ones, one with one bung and one with two bungs. I am running stock seq. turbos and will be running stock for a while. I want to be able to go low 12's in the 1/4. I also know I need gauges and to remove the AST and maybe a radiator. I also wanted to know what ECU I will need? I live in Lafayette Indiana and I think the closest shop is in Lebanon Indiana, about half way between Lafayette and Indianapolis. Does anyone know about them, and if they are good? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

HKS DP is reliable and common (75 mm). ECU, Power FC is the most user freindly one

Just spend some time reading through posts and you'll get more info than you need.

BTW, you don't need to remove your AST. Just replace it with a metal one.

Unless you comfortable with tuning your own car or finding a tuner near you (Badog in Columbus, OH), just get a used M2 or Pettit ECU. The PFC is better but requires support that you may or may not have.

To run low 12s, at a minimum, you will need an intake, downpipe, midpipe, cat-back, 12-13 psi (requires an ecu), and drag radials.

At this point in the ownership of your car, I would worry more about reliability and maintenance (downpipe is a good mod though) than power adders.

Do you have a beater car for the upcoming winter? I know the midwest winters only too well (Purdue class of 97).

Buy a 3" Stainless Steel DP, so it won't rust. Brand name doesn't really matter. The "Fit" is the key. As for the ECU, go with a used Rechipped ECU for around $400-500. You can always upgrade to the Power FC when you finally buy all the bolt-on flow mods (i.e.: DP, MP or HF Cat, Cat-Back, Intakes, IC, Ignition Amp, etc.) This way you don't have to worry about "tuning" your car. Rechipped ECU's are a "no-brainer".

BTW, you are supposd to "re-tune" your car on a dyno or on the street with a wideband o2 sensor($$$) each time you add a mod. This can get expensive and risky if you screw up and cause your motor to lean out due to poor tuning. The M2 ECU is tuned very conservatively for safety. This might be a good choice for you while you are learning about your car.

When you get a ported motor or larger secondaries to fuel a single, then you can graduate to the Power FC. You will also be able to re-sell your Rechipped ECU becuae they don't wear out and there is always somebody else on the forum looking for one...

That's what I did anyway. I am actually selling my M2 ECU to "Crusier" on the forum cuz I just got my PFC.
