Double Throttle Control Solenoid Question
So I was getting some broken vacuum lines fixed and in the process of putting the UIM back on and get all the hoses connected to it I noticed that a line had broken off the solenoid that controls the double throttle deal. If I removed the butterflies from my throttle body will I still need to replace this hose and solenoid or can I just ghetto rig my **** so I can run it again. Cars been down a month and I've gotten really impatient after this has happened. Damn 7's...*hugs car*

Hehe; cleanup.
FD: the car where if things break, you remove them.
If you look at the solenoid chart, the double throttle line is isolated from the rest of the rack. It is of no consequence to the rest of the system so long as you do not create a vacuum or pressure leak (on boost) on the UIM when you remove it. Also, don't make the ECU go crazy when you remove the solenoid (CEL 50).

Just plug the vacuum line where it goes into the UIM and the dbl throttle plates will stay open. I removed mine (plates) and just capped off where the hose came out of the UIM left the solinoid there (will eliminate later) I had a check valve go bad on my vacum chamber so robbed the check valve off the Dbl throttle. Just have to make sure the car is fully warmed up before putting foot into it (should do this anyway.) Let me know if you need pictures, Jack

That's kinda funny you talking bout the broken check valve on that line. Cause that's how it started for me. I noticed the check valve had broken when I put the UIM back on so I went to grab the check valve to remove it and replace it but the other end was connected to nothing and I was like oh **** this can't be good but looking at the diagram I was like oh it's just the double throttle control so maybe I can bypass this. Just don't wanna be getting CEL just cause of solenoid nipple being broken. Thanks for all the info though. I will see what I can do. Just one last question. If I try this should I leave the rest of the lines connected to the solenoid?

No problem there as when you pull the line off the uim and plug that nipple (on the UIM) you've eliminated the vacuum source going to the solenoid and to the double throttle control diafram. The only way to make it better is remove the diafram chamber and butterflies and block off that hole the butterfly shaft came through. I did that before I had my UIM polished, installed it yesterday.

The double throttle control fails to fully open so if there is ever trouble with the lines or solenoid the butterfly will stay fully open. The system has to be functional for the butterfly to close.
