Door will not open

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've searched for "door stuck closed" and "door will not open" and didn't find anything.

I got out this morning, locked the door, and came back a few minutes later to discover my door would not unlock (the key will not go in all the way). No big deal, I'll unlock it from the inside and open it right? Wrong. Won't unlock from the inside either. I mean the latch will move up, like it's unlocked, but it will not. And it won't open from the inside or outside either. I had to climb in from the passenger side, which I thought would be pretty difficult since I'm 6'3", but it wasn't as bad as trying a modified "Duke's of Hazzard" (feet first, pulling myself out with knees touching shoulders and just barely being able to get out). Has anyone had this problem? Is there a way I can fix it, since I can't take the panel off the inside since the door is stuck closed? In the words of Snoop, "if it ain't one thang it's a mother-f**kin-nother".

Just went out and tried this:

You can pop off the access panel to get to the 2 10mm bolts that hold the outer handle/lock to the door, with the door shut. There are two rods attatched to this assembly, that you can get to once its free from the door itself from the outside. These rods actuate the lock and door opener dealy. Remove/clean/re-lube this assembly and make sure the rods move freely to the lock/unlock and door-open positions.

thanks for replying.

but my problem is I cannot even open the door at all. I can take those triangle pieces out. and I could reach to two of latches. One of latch is door lock, and another is for door opener. The door opener latch won't work or move at all. seems like stuck inside.

First, I need to open this door to investigate inside. How can i do that?

Don't know if you got this fixed or not, but edwin-82 had a great description of how to fix this issue. This just happened to me last friday, and I was climbing in and out through the passenger door for a few days before I had time to work on it. It is pretty embarasing when you pull into work, or the gas station to fill up, and have to scoot out of the driver's seat, over to the passenger seat and then get out of the passenger side of the car. The only thing I had going for me was that my windows are fairly dark, so it sorta looked like I was in a Japan-spec, "right-side drive" FD.

I finaly got around to taking the time to fix this on tuesday (4 days latter). I wish I would have known that the fix was only going to take about 5-10 min, 'cause I would have done it sooner. You can pop off the interior plastic panel which is basically located next to your left ear if you are in the driver's seat, facing forward. The door does not have to be open to get that peice off.

Then, like edwin-82 said, you'll see 2 10mm bolts. Just take those off. Now you'll be able to slide your exterior door latch assembly out. You'll see the two rods controlling the door lock and door latch. This is where the problem lies. In my case, I just manually pushed and pulled the rod to lock and unlock the door, and that fixed the problem...at least for now.
