Door popper + hood

Ok I was thinking about this. I like many have run into the situation where the plastic piece on the release cable for my hood has snapped. Rather than replace it with another cable and have the possibility of it happening again, has anyone considered, or even installed, an electronic release. Door poppers like those used for shaved door handles have become so cheap for those that don't use a remote control I was considering doing this. I figured it's just as easy to run a couple of wires to a hidden switch as it is to run the new wire and possibly have it snap again in the future. Thoughts?

Just install a new cable they are much easier and more reliable then a remote and electric cylinoid.

I've been in the same situation as you for a year now, and I have to use a pair of pliers to open my hood. I also thought of installing a solenoid to release the hood latch, but then my buddy asked me "Well, what if your battery dies."....

I've decided to wait for that inevitable day when I'm gonna have to pull the engine for a rebuild, then I'll go ahead and replace the cable.

Problem with an electric only popper is getting your hood open when you've got a flat battery....

The hood latch is pretty cheap from Malloy Mazda. I forgot the exact price, but it was minimal. If you route the cable properly, it will not snap.
