FL Door Cup to Panel Space??

There is a void or open space between the door cups and the actual door panel.
When you pull on the cup, the open space allows the cup to flex -- maybe one of the reasons for so many breaks.

Has anyone tried to close that gap with something? Seems like something like strofoam would even out the pressure on the door cup and add leverage as well.

I haven't seen any posts about this.

Thoughts?
Really working on best fixes for the doors.

Thanks

I've fixed it with Great Stuff expanding foam. Put in some aluminum foil on the door cup so it doesn't stick to it, fill the void, and there ya go.

Be patient with that stuff, it does take a while to fully set up and cure. Also, wear rubber gloves, it's sticky if you touch it can can get everywhere. Be careful with it and know that it will stick to whatever it touches.

The aluminum foil is a great idea.
Used the Great Stuff for the crash bar gap and it worked super. Didn't want to sticky up the New door cup, but if the foil works, that's the ticket.

Thanks
