Door/Body shop advice

After 10 years of this rx7 living indoors I took it out for a week to drive around. Well while it was parked on the street it was backed into.

Looking on advise about how to deal with this? Should I ask for a door or allow the door to be reskined? It seems to only be the door that was hit, I can find no marks on the fron fender or rear qtr.

that sucks...... seems to me that you will need a new door because of the metal used to make it even repaired it will show the hit.

It'll probably be cheaper just getting a used door. The labor to replace the skin is significant.

I wouldn't bother trying to repair it. Re-skinning would be too much work and it would be hard to get the metal the right shape. The other option to repair it is to pull the dent by welding studs to the panel and pulling on it, but that would still leave a rough surface that would have to be sanded and filled. In the end you have a weak surface that is more likely to dent than before. It just isn't worth it when you can get a door in good condition here on the forum or elsewhere. You might even get lucky and find one the right color.

Thinking I will just get a new Mazda OEM door shell, comes primed in black for $650. If I can find a used black door I will be a happy camper but so far no luck.

Based on the gap between the door and fender the door shell itself has been damage beyond the repair of re skining the door that's a pretty deep dent used door Ftw BTW if that's brilliant black u could panel paint it and buff surrounding panels will look as good as new

Door it is

Ok so a door it will be. Found a Red drivers door, Think I will just wait it out a few weeks and see if I can find a Black one. If I have to paint Im thinking I might as well get the Mazda door @$650.

Still waiting for mods to OK my parts WTB post. Man this place sure has changed from what it was years ago.
