QFT. I have a friend of a friend who's like this....It's HIGHLY annoying. If you're into something, he'll try to get into it and one-up you, just because you're into it. He's even had the audacity to think he knows more about it than you when he's been into it for a far shorter period of time.

I have been an RX7 owner for 14 years now...10 of which are with my current 1993 MB Touring...and through the years I have seen a HUGE progression of following in this community. In 1997 the RX7 was still in my opinion the outcast of sports cars...followed almost exclusively through cult and dismissed by the majority of motorsports enthusiasts... It was a novelty as far as they were concerned. I fell in love with the RX's quickly and really obtained an appreciation for the concept they represented. A light, nimble, spirted sports car with ergonomic focus on the driver. The car really is built for the pilot...and it shows.

The First generation and second generation cars were great and carried a huge burden to the RX namesake as they pushed the cause forward year to year....but it really wasnt until the 3rd Generation that the world truly took notice and gave the RX-7 its "supercar" status. I rememnber seeing the 3rd gen RX7 in 1992 for the first time and nearly lost my marbles...What a machine!!!!...so small...so powerful...so smooth....it just OOZED greatness in my eye...but it was a seriously priced car too. 40k+ cars in that day were slotted for the rich...so it became a fantasy...and after 9 years...an obsession.....so when I was able to afford one I swiftly dropped my savings off with the previous owner and drove home with things happening inside me i couldnt explain...it was pure ecstacy....and through the years that feeling has only evolved into a true passion....I cannot imagine letting my RX7 go..and dont plan on doing so....but when I see these cars being used up by inexperienced folks getting a thrill...I rest assured that nobody can touch mine...and I intend to keep it that way.

Not many paid $40k for this car new - perhaps none. They were steeply discounted in 1995, I know a few who paid high 20s.
