It would be better if it wasn't. I might still be flowing some air, but that valve is responsible for bypassing prespooled boost from the secondary turbo... if the path is blocked, it could conceivably backflow the turbo.

As long as it's letting air through, it's fine but probably not all that efficient. I would fix it so it doesn't have that much of a bend.

I'm guessing that you installed an Efini y-pipe in place of stock, without cutting down the air hose.

If you shorten the air hose the kink should go away.

Take the intake off and see if shortening the hose takes the kink out before cutting anything.

Your mechanic is an idiot. Order the proper hose from Malloy Mazda 703-843-0061. Ask for Ray. The oem hoses are molded. It is difficult to get an aftermarket hose to make that tight of a bend without kinking. Also, the HKS Racing intake is supposed to come with hoses if I recall correctly.

Just go over the NAPA or Autozone and ask to rummage through their heater/coolant hose mix (you want a hose that can take some heat). They will have a lot of preformed hoses and you can probably find one that will work.

If it were one of the preformed coolant lines which run to the hard lines on the firewall or the front of the engine, I would agree with you. However, for just a BOV line, IMO, it's not that big of a deal. Heck, I might even have a 90 degree bend left over from the line I bought for my CRV if you can't find anything.

Oh, I didn't realize you're using it for an aftermarket intake. The kit you bought should've come with the hose required. Did it not?
