wow i drive mine 500 a week min...running great dont mind it besides traffic...gets 16-20mpg depending on how much i drive in city or in traffic which is better then my toy which gets 16 at best. Mine has got some mods...not many and has most reliability mods to. I bought it in june 09 with 108k and just flipped 121k yesterday. I work over an hour away from home so miles rack up quick.

I daily my CYM every day. Its the only car I have at the moment and I would not have it any other way. I'm pretty stockish so I guess thats why I havent had any reliability problems, but I would deal with them just to have the smile this car puts on my face every time I get into it.

I don't have to, but I do whenever it's clear with no chance of rain... and my mileage went up with the LS2 swap...

Let the flaming begin...

I truly daily drove my car for YEARS. Not because it was my only car but because I loved driving the thing. Even drove it in the rain. I averaged 60-80 miles a day depending on where I went. Roughly put 110K miles on my car and it took its toll. From interior, exterior, and suspension my car was hammered. I'd say 90% of those miles put on were useless.. meaning they were no fun.

So a couple of years ago I decided to bring my car back to it's former glory and fix all the wear and tear. Also I finally got smart and decided that all the wear and tear that comes from daily driving the thing is not worth it, so now I don't DD' it anymore. I maybe drive it 60 miles a week and thats if I take it to work one day (50 miles round trip). For example I plan on taking my car to work tomorrow only because I havent driven it in over a week and it's not good to let it sit for days.

Yup, thats how i use my car. About every weekend but almost 100 miles per drive or 2 hours per drive.

I have a DD, although super boring and slow, is very convenient and practical to just get in and go somewhere, not caring at all about any OCD related things that you might get with your FD, or toy.

Yeah, that is hardcore DD'ing.

Another reason why it shouldnt be a DD. Because there is no fun in using the FD for a DD, for TRUE DD'ing.

Along with that fact, is you will also find out how unpractical the FD is, which i have stated. The car is small, the car is low, it gets poor gas mileage and depending on where you live, not suitable for wintry conditions.

I have put about 7-8k miles in my ownership with my car, already 6 years but i dont regret not driving it more than i did. Because i like the idea of taking your toy out on the BEST of days.

i daily drove it for close to 2 months...

about 40-60 mi a day.... 500+ for the weekends.

it does get anonying - everyone tries to race you, no one can see you - and somewhere back of your mind is telling you you shouldnt be doing it...

as for mileage, i get around 22-23 on the freeway on a 70-80mph cruise. around 16-18 around town.

my other vehicle is a 6,500lbs truck.... that gets the same fuel mileage....

WELL SAID

Drive mines everywhere. Ill take my gf truck if im going somewhere short distance like the grocey store cause for some reason it seems to use a gallon of gas until its warmed up.

MY only complaint is to park far. people seem to want to hit my car with there door.

I used to have a Tacoma to DD but i felt like i spent way to much money and didn't even drive my car

At times i couldn't even remember when the last time i drove it was? I put the FD and my truck up for sale but the truck sold first so I kept my FD for my only car at the moment. Its not in mint condition but its driven Single turbo streetport is not that great on gas but i drive 30 miles a day round trip on the freeway and its a blast. Kind of a pain when just driving around town though and if its lowered its a pain to get in n out of.

I will keep driving it everyday maybe till summer then I plan on taking over payments for my Dads Yukon. No AC sucks in Cali and the GMC probably get better gas mileage then my car

As far as drivability issues, just a rebuild

I drive mine every single day (unless I didn't leave the house that day!)

I bought my RX7 about 2 years ago (almost exactly), with 60k miles on it
This week I just hit 95k.

Thats right......35k in 2 years of daily driving it........I didn't buy it to stare at it! lol

BPU mods (intercooler, downpipe, midpipe, exhaust, intake, PFC controller, ported wastegates, and non-sequential)

No problems other than she likes to stall if you try to drive her first thing in the morning without a few minutes warmup, and some minor electrical issues, i think my grounds need to be upgraded/replaced. Possibly a dying alternator. My tranny synchros need to be replaced as well, but thats expected with this mileage.

When I bought her I changed the tranny and diff fluids to all redline high end fluids, and put in a new exedy stock replacement clutch. Change the oil every 3-4k with VR1 Racing oil and purolator gold filter, plus i add ZDDP additives. I put a 1/2oz per gallon of 2stroke oil in my gas every 2-3 fillups.

Yeah I intentionally left that part out.

For about 6 months I had a 100 mile/day commute, 95% of it was all freeway, with a few good ramps/cloverleafs. I did drive it every day then and it was a blast, but now that my commute has changed to a congested snail-crawl, I don't.

So this morning I hooked up my battery got in and started the car. Only to think **** it don't wanna drive it. Shut it off, disconnedted the battery, got on my DD and went to work lol...

I havent figured out my attitude yet, complete 180 of what it used to be. Back in the day I'd get ready for work, stare at my 3 car keys and 90% of the time I'd go for the FD

lol im the same way in a sense.

Back when i first got my FD, i would drive anywhere. To barnes and nobles, take aimless short trips to burger king or to drop mail at the PO. Just to drive it.

I remember even taking a 200 mile drive in the DEAD smack of summer, i think it was 98 degrees that day, with a couple of my friends cruising. That was the day my P/S belt snapped on the highway lol.

And i didnt mind it.

Now, im soo OCD and picky about my driving days. I dont drive it when its too hot, dont drive it when its too cold, not in rain nor in snow. And even on nice days when i would normally go out, sometimes i feel lazy and say no. Or if i dont feel like moving my DD out of the way to take the FD out lol

But even with that new attitude, i still managed to put the most miles i have ever put on this car in a 12 month period since i owned the car. Thats due to the fact that i dont do short trip driving as much, 90% is all highway now.

i daily drive it for past few years. no reliability issues at all.

i love the car, it should be seen, gotta represent, cause i rarely see these cars anymore

30 degrees or 110 degrees, rock n roll, rain or shine

i dont care about gas mileage. cost of livin'

just like any car, check the oil and water every once in a while, warm it up before red lining it

Once I finish installing the new motor in my FD in GA, and finally ship it to San Diego...I'll only drive it on Weekends, and maybe on Fridays to work. :P

Last time I went home and drove my FD I got like 210 miles on a tank....definitely not well-suited for being my DD here in San Diego where I commute ~150 miles a week to/from work.

I have a '89 Accord with 275k miles on it for my DD. My uncle was the 1st owner. 5-speed, stereo...it's the perfect DD.

I love my FD but I would hate to daily drive it. Its always been a project/weekend car the whole time ive owned it. At first I had a G35 coupe for a DD and then I switched to a 335i coupe for a daily. The FD is more fun to drive hands down but the Infiniti and BMW were much nicer to have as daily's. Ive always had the option to drive the FD as much as i wanted just never had the desire to.

I just got my FD, and while I won't DD it I will drive it when the weather is nice. I got too **** with my last project, never driving it due to some, any, reason I could think of, mainly thinking it would blow up or something.

So after all the parts and money I sank into it I never really enjoyed it. I just want to enjoy the FD, and it's a blast to drive. I can't help but smile everytime I see it let alone drive it.
