Do I need a PFC? Or am I fine with an ECU?

Ok, so I have all the bolt ons for my 94FD except a midpipe and ECU.

I wanted to install a midpipe, but I have yet to install one because of everyone saying the chance of blowing the engine due to boost creep if I don't have a PFC/ECU.

Now the question is, do I need a PFC or am I fine with just getting an aftermarket ECU? I am not looking to run single turbo or anything like that, I may just increase the boost to 12-13psi from where I am and getting a midpipe.

Just wondering if I don't need a PFC what ECU's would you guys suggest and is it just plug and play? Would I be able to install it or is it difficult where I would have to bring it to a shop. Also, is there any tuning that I'd need to pay for?

Someone will correct me if im wrong but midpipe without some kind of boost control or replacement ecu is a big no no. Plus with all the bolt ons sounds like your already pushing the limits of the stock ecu. My cars stock and I have the PFC, it was worth the money, you can check just about everything on the car, no need for 10 gauges, and most shops around here will tune them on the dyno for you for about 70-120. Installing it is a piece of cake.

Yeh, that's why I said that I haven't installed a midpipe yet because I don't have a PFC/ECU yet.

Tuning the PFC around here is pretty expensive, around $300-$500 + dyno time.

If you want to do things properly and safely, don't install a midpipe until you have all of the rest of the bolt-ons, a standalone ecu, and an upgraded fuel system. You will still very likely have to deal with boost creep, which means porting the wastegate or (much less desirable) adding restrictor plates in the exhaust.

A used Pettit ecu makes a great stepping stone to the PFC.

These are all extremely common questions and have been answered before many times....thread closed.
