do i need a map sensor?
do i need a map sensor?
I am in the middle of a rebuild. During the rebuild the engine was ported and 3mm seals and springs were used. I have all bolt ons as im im getting EMS. Eventually i will be going single turbo...i know i will need at least a 3 bar then but do i need one now or should i just wait. I plan on only running about 5-7 psi during the break in period. What do you guys think?
you should run no boost during the break in period at all and not exceed 3000 rpm for a while then step up to 4k and 5k etc then after 1000 miles start going 2-3psi and low rpms etc...work your way up slowly.
Kai was right 1.15 is the highest the stock can read. when you put a single turbo on Id get it then. right now it would be more of a headache and something else may go wrong. youll need a tune as well like you mentioned make sure the a/f is ok

Do you think i will need a tune right away during the break in period, or would it be okay to run it with a base map just until the break in is over?

you should be fine with the base map just as long as you don't boost...since you are in the break in period you should not boost anyway...as soon as the break in period is done then go get it tuned...
