Do you need a boost controller with upgraded ECU?

IF the ECU is programmed already with fuel maps, timing at certain boost levels.. Is it neccessary to use boost controller?? Regardless of boostlevels. shouldn't the ecu compensate with more gas?? to prevent detonation?

I realize you can use boost controller to lower your boost. but Why do that??? When it doesn't really matter, because the ECU is programmed for it already..
and if it does boost spike or creap. wouldn't the Upgraded ECU limit it like the boost controller??

Just a thought

The ECU is fuel/detonation insurance to prevent leaning out at high boost levels. A boost controller limits spikes and overboosting which naturally occur when you install a free-flow intake and exhaust, especially in the rotary. Upgraded or piggy-back ECU's do not have an integrated boost controller like the PowerFC.

what i just found out ...after being told that the pfc handles boost.....is that the POWER FC sucks big fat rat better than it controls boost.

I use a manual boost controller instead of having my pfc do it.

I have been using the PFC to handle my boost and haven't had any problems (on my slightly modded car). It is kinda limited to how much boost though, maybe in the future you might need to get a AVC-R to run with it.
