Sounds like a base model.
No R models came with Leather. It was an option on a base and standard on a touring. Touring had sunroofs.
By now things could have been swapped around by previous owners. Check the front end and see if it has 1 or 2 oil coolers. If it has 1 it's def not an R1

Not an R1 with cruise control. It's a Base model.

I have a VIN check from Carfax I haven't used yet. If you send it to me I'll run it for you. You can send me 5 bucks or something.

1993 R1 has no cruise control, it has 2 oil coolers, spoilers rear and front, alcantara seats with black interior, no sunroof, no Bose system and strut tower brace
You have a Base model or Touring

Ya so I'm pretty sure it a base.
Due to leather seats and it does have cruise control, but no sunroof or Bose or rear wiper

Almost foolproof way is to check the oil coolers--- two of them is most likely an R-model.

You can get faked out with an Auto Trans car and the cooler on the passenger side though

FWIW, our '94 is a "PEG" ("Popular Equipment Group"). It has leather seats, metal sunroof, cruise control, and standard audio system (not Bose). No rear wiper, one oil cooler.

But then again if it's an auto, it's definitely not a R1.

One thing to keep in mind:

These days the condition of the car out weighs what model it is (unless you really want/not want a sunroof). As all other features are easily added or deleted.

I've seen auto cars converted to manual that retained the auto trans cooler. At first blush, it appeared to be an R model..... wasn't

I would agree with this except for the interior choice. If you really do not want Tan which many people dont its a fairly big project to swap everything over especially if you cant get it local, many large pieces that are expensive to ship.
