Question Do I have grounds to argue on engine failure?

Ok I have had perinial problems with my RX-7. Ever since I got it things have gone wrong. I am beginning to think it is jinxed. I popped the first motor with about 75k on it. I thought and still think that is about the average life of a rotary so that was ok. In less than 10k more miles the second one went bad due to problems that occured with a Fluidyne radiator, (collapse of some sort), that caused the apex seal springs to overheat and collapse. Fluidyne replaced the radiator for free and my mechanic rebuilt the motor for just the price of parts. Now at 108k I think the engine has just expired again. It has been a little over 1 1/2 years since the motor was redone and the car isnt' driven hard. In fact I avoid driving it hard because I have a boost fluxuation problem, (no overboosting), with the secondary turbo that makes it annoying to drive. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...highlight=dyno (There is a description and pic of that problem.)It feels like it has lost compression just like the 2 times before. Just 2 weeks ago the same guy had to replace the water pump gasket because it was leaking. It was squirting out a bit of coolant but the temp never went above 90C. Shouldn't they have been replaced whent he motor was built, and shouldn't they last a bit longer? I am having it shipped off to the mechanic as I write this and I am just wondering what ground I have to stand on.

Sounds like you need a new mechanic.

You don't have a leg. Make sure you take it to a reliable rotary mechanic. Replace all the rubber, the waterpump, and install a reman. That will solve your problem.

By the way the engine had a 1 year unlimited mile warranty on it. He is a pretty reputable mechanic. He has been working on strictly rotarys since the early 80's. I mean people send engines from all over to have him build them. Before this I had not quams about his work but this makes me question it a bit.

You still don't have a leg to stand on. Suck it up and get a reman.
