Do FD thermostats have the capability of being put in upside down?

I know my 240SX can have this problem. Is this common for all thermostats? I know the little "bleeder hole?" need to be on top. Do FD thermostats have this as well? And no I do not mean inside out.

Since it is perfectly round like the hole it fits in, it can be inserted at any angle you can imagine! I always drill a 1/16" hole opposite the giggle hole just to help bleed out the air.

The FSM makes a point to tell us to install it w/ the tiny bleed hole @ 12o'clock.
