Do 13B Motors Tolerate Detonation with Upgraded Seals?
I have 1x Crane Hi-6 to 1x LX92 coil per leading plug.
I wouldn't say its the best choice for CDI though as if the 12V "4cycl" jumper loses connection it will spark in "V8 mode" at 180Ded and 360Deg. Not happy on a rotary.

I wonder how the surface gaps would work with Mercury/AEM coils.
My Merc 2stk outboard uses them and they work well unboosted.
Still a Denso S31A has a gap of .055"
But if you say so... it is worth a try.

When the electrode gets fully rounded and starts to recess I have to replace the plugs as it does get soft up top.
So, when I can't see a little flat spot still at the center of the electrode I toss them and put the trailings in the leading spot and new trailings.

i was contemplating going a step further and shimming the plugs deeper into the engine to fill the plug gap as best i could and compare knock readings.
Good info here, i ran into issues with cracking in the chrome surface on stock housings. This is a very important part of building a high hp 13b no matter what seals u run.

I have done several microstructure and hardness testing on a variety of apex seals.. the technology that goes in the oem apex is fantastic. No aftermarket seal have the variation in heat treatment along the length and height like OEM. When the strength/hardness is increased the material becomes brittle (vs ductile). This is why the others warp instead of break.
The hardest one is the RX8 OEM with more than twice the HV than the OEM FD (2 or 3 piece) and 3 times of other aftermarket ones with very apparent results in the microscope .. who ever says otherwise is just full of **** !
Rice contacted me a few days ago to promote his seals after a "dispute" he and someone else had on fb... I highly doubt that the information he has are backed up in any sort of scientific/engineering way.
